This Week in WoT was all about unofficial and later official releases of information pertaining to the upcoming version 8.11 of WoT. If you have followed the information coming throughout the week, you have already seen all of this, but if you haven’t this might be an OK place to get a quick summary of what’s to come in the following weeks release of the public test server on Thursday January 23rd.
The week has been visually rewarding again this time, bringing video footage as well as beautiful screenshots of the upcoming update, but the problem is the 8.11 update brings no real graphical improvements, instead it brings balancing of a bunch of maps and Tier 10 TD’s and a whole lot of technical and user interface novelties that are quite interesting and good themselves, but offer more reading than watching.
And another disappointment to some, no new vehicles in 8.11. But as I said there’s lovely pictures
There’s only a couple of note worthy vehicle changes happening in the next update. A widespread Tier 10 Tank Destroyer nerf, a profitability increase for Tier 8 Premium Heavy Tanks and a 10% drop in Tier 10 artillery MM weight. The matchmaker takes weight into account when making teams, so this means that there will be a fraction more artillery appearing in high tier matches. The profitability is getting increased for the following tanks: Löwe, T34, 112, T-34-3, FCM50t, M6A2E1, bringing it up to the level of JagdTiger 8.8cm
The TD’s are getting their characteristics reduced as follows:
Foch 155 - Alpha damage reduced from 850 to 750 HP, top tier engine removed, leaving 1000HP Tier 9 engine, armor made historical according to these schematics, range finder nerfed.
T110E4 – Alpha damage reduced from 850 to 750 HP.
T110E3 – Alpha damage reduced from 850 to 750 HP.
Object 268 - Alpha damage reduced from 850 to 750 HP, premium ammunition penetration to be reduced from 450mm to 395mm.
WT E-100 – Alpha damage reduced from 850 to 750 HP, hull and traverse speed reduced, and an increase in aim spread when rotating the turret.
A picture says a 1000 words, so you should go check out the pretty pics in the 8.11 new maps post, or at least feast your eyes for a second on these breathtaking screenshots of upcoming maps and the reworked ones.
If you checked out the screenshots, you have seen the maps that are getting changed and if you were really careful, you’ve noticed two very familiar ones in different season. The maps that are getting changed in version 8.11 are Erlenberg, Redshire, Highway and North-West, there will be two newish maps added, Winter Himmelsdorf and Ruinberg on fire and a new map called Winterberg.
Two now medals for random battles, a couple of new team battle medals are coming and the Sniper medal is getting retired. The new medals are Tanker-Sniper, replacing the Sniper medal and the Main Caliber medal, finally bringing a medal for the person who does the most damage in one match. You can find the medals with their respective description here.
There’s a new mode coming in 8.11, quite surprisingly, since it was previously deemed discontinued, called National battles, where players will fight each other in teams of tanks belonging to a single nation. This will happen in random battles much in the way Assault and Encounter work now and you will be able to disable it in the same way. The battles we’re only quickly shown in the video, but we know that all nations except China and Japan will participate since their lack of all types of vehicles.
Historical battles login interface was also leaked, but showed no further info besides confirming the existence of the mode and confirming that the ammunition will be limited to numbers decided by developers, according to vehicle historical data. Historical battles are probably coming with the 9.0 update.
Most of the real improvements in version 8.11 are going to be regarding the user interface, bringing much better crew management in terms of group operations, like retraining of multiple crew members at once and other crew operations, getting the amount of clicks needed to complete, significantly lowered. There’s also a direct link from each tank to it’s statistics and research and the Missions/Discount window was also improved somewhat.
There were changes made to the in battle relay of information as well, bringing a much larger notification when a vehicle is on fire and also an option to click the fire extinguisher to activate it. The option of disabling the chat and viewing the chat history was included and the remaining reload time was added to the reloading message. A couple of markers were also added to the reticle and a new option, to disable the killcam, showing you the enemy who killed you after you get shot, was added in the menu.
Credits galore with Month Long Missions for January on both EU and US servers bringing you credits for 10,20 and 30 wins each day respectively and a 1,000,000 for 100 wins and 300 battles in this period on the US servers.
Hope this does it for a little summary of what’s been going on, if you’re interested in more, feel free to check out the updates section, where you will find more videos, pics, links and of course leaks.
